Objectives
Repertoire: Contribute large work for marimba quartet; extend technique and timbre.
Meter: Employ metric modulations and relationships to advance larger form.
Rhythm: Explore use of rhythmic dissonance for cadential effect and to advance smaller form.
Listen for
Kempli: Common pulse unifying ensemble and movements
Timbre: Acrylic, latex, cord, and yarn mallets used for color
Technique: Dead-strokes, double-strokes, muting, and virtuosity
Polyrhythms: To create rhythmic dissonance and prepare metric modulations
Harmony: Diatonic modal chords developed into secondal, extended tertian, and quartal/quintal chords
